Sea Ducks
20” wide x 16” height printed on Red River’s Polar paper - meeting archival standards
Painted completely within a vector graphics program called Inkscape - August, 2024
In July, we were strolling along the South Carolina coast and encountered a small group of sea ducks - wading into the ocean.
I enjoy painting small groups of birds and thought this might make a nice setting.
Unlike Mallards, Sea Ducks have subtle colors.
The ocean was shallow where they were walking so I wanted to show the interesting patterns there as well.
I experimented printing on several papers.
The Polar Matte paper from Red River provided the brightest white, which helped make the ocean’s patterns stand out better.
